I made this for dinner last night and everyone loved it. It isn't gourmet or anything fancy - but it is quick, easy and tasty! This recipe makes four mini calzones. I recommend doubling this recipe for most families! Be creative with your ingredients - add onion, mushrooms, olives - whatever you and your family enjoy! Also.....don't let the cottage cheese scare you away. I despise cottage cheese (it melts) but I still really enjoyed these calzones.
1 cup small curd cottage cheese
3 Tbsp. grated Parmesan cheese
1 large egg
1 tsp. dried Italian seasoning
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1 cup or more - Monterey Jack cheese, grated
1 can Pillsbury pizza crust
2 cups marinara sauce, or any desired sauce
Stir 1st five ingredients together - add pepperoni and cheese. Divide dough into 4 equal parts; Pat the dough into a square and put a nice amount of pepperoni mixture into the middle of the dough; fold dough over to form a triangle or rectangle and seal edges; Put on a foil-lined baking sheet; prick the top of the calzones with a fork and bake at 375 for 20-25 minutes until nice and golden brown. These are best if the dough is extra done so not to be gooey! Serve with warm sauce.
These little calzones look yummy- perfect for a quick meal after work!
oh yummy, i know my family would love these!! anne
hi! i linked over from Mandy's site, Learn, Laugh, Cook. These look great! I just made a Kraft recipe for Salami Strombolis last weekend. These look like a tasty relative! I'll have to give them a try - thanks!
Love the sound of these - I'm not a fan of cottage cheese either, but I trust you!
